What did Sir Sandford Fleming invent?

  1. Telephone

  2. Radio

  3. First electric light bulb

  4. Worldwide system of standard time zones

The correct answer is: Worldwide system of standard time zones

Sir Sandford Fleming did not invent the telephone or the radio. Alexander Graham Bell is credited with inventing the telephone in 1876 and Guglielmo Marconi is credited with inventing the radio in the 1890s. Fleming also did not invent the first electric light bulb, that was Thomas Edison in 1879. Fleming did however propose a worldwide system of standard time zones in 1879, after missing a train due to a scheduling error. This system was eventually adopted in 1884 at the International Meridian Conference, making Fleming the "Father of Standard Time".
